My wife recently sought a quote from APS Double Glazing to replace a number of timber windows on our Surf Coast property. Simon and the Team from APS were very professional, they explained the products, the benefits and the installation process. Everything went according to plan and all timing milestones were met. The installation team were great, explained everything that they were doing and were able to get all five new windows in place by the end of the first day. The after sales service, checkups and final fit out has also gone according to plan. We are now set to enjoy our new APS windows and are already seeing the benefits in terms of improved insulation and reduced noise. Bruce & Sherry love visiting their holiday home in Aireys inlet overlooking the river, their plans are to retire there one day. The only problem was their old timber windows and doors which had seen better days. After visiting APS for a free no pressure, no obligation quote we offered them some improved designs for their living area, offering a very large frame with a greatly increased centre panel so they could maximise the view out of their living area, after all that’s the reason they have the home. Once installed we visited for our post installation inspection, Sherry was over the moon with the installation and had already noticed the vastly improved thermal benefits and commented on how the property value would have been increased.
Ross joined APS double glazing group in early 2020 as the lead installer. He has always been a top performer having a successful soccer career for AFC Bournemouth for 11 years before moving to Australia.
After falling in love with Australia, Ross decided to pursue a career as a UPVC window installer due to previous experience in the UK. Ross has worked for several companies in Melbourne, initially as an installer where he was quickly promoted to lead installer then installation manager due to his pursuit of perfection and good process management.
Ross is a valuable team member of APS and is not afraid of getting his hands dirty in the field if required.
Paul Gerrard
Director of Operations
Paul Gerrard began his career in glazing at the age of 15, fabricating PVC windows in the UK and later becoming a qualified installer until aged 19.
Paul joined the British army and following several years distinguished service he returned to the glazing industry working at a national level with some of the largest PVC companies in the UK.
Swapping the UK for Australia in 2008, Paul began manufacturing and installing PVC windows and doors in Brisbane before joining Simon and Mina in founding APS Double Glazing.
Paul is a fully qualified glazier and is all things technical ensuring we stay ahead with all the latest advances in technology, so our customers are being offered the very best Australia has to offer.
Wilhelmina Thomas
Director & Head of Administration
Mina, as she likes to be called, initially started her UPVC double glazing career as a telemarketer for Anglian double glazing in the UK.
Mina gained valuable marketing and administration experience in the UK working for several national companies providing UPVC double glazing and then moved into the renewable sector as the head of the instore and telemarketing marketing department. She was responsible for managing multiple pop-up stores in shopping centres and a small call centre.
When Mina and Simon moved to Melbourne, she started as the instore manager for a large UK company quickly escalating their sales. With her extensive and valuable experience, Mina was the obvious choice to manage the call centre and administration team at APS Double Glazing.
Simon Thomas
Managing Director
Simon trained as a carpenter in the UK and in 1983 started as the first installer for a German company installing Kommerling UPVC windows and doors.
As the UK industry developed, the company grew to 4 installation teams and Simon was promoted in 1986 to installation manager. A few years later he was further promoted to installation and production manager when the business started manufacturing its own products.
In 1996 Simon left the industry for several years moving to Spain and then Australia, returning to the industry in 2008 working as a sales manager for a large UK manufacturer and installer.
In early 2013 he was offered the position of training manager for an Australian company based in Melbourne. Within several years he had assisted in tripling the turnover and headed up the sales department of the business. It was at this point he felt it was ready it was time for a change.
APS was formed when Simon and two friends felt they had the experience to create a company that offered top quality European style, energy efficient products backed up by quality installations and award winning after sale service at reasonable prices.
APS has now rapidly grown to become one of the top UPVC double glazing companies in Australia with two manufacturing bases covering all of Melbourne, Greater Melbourne and Brisbane (soon to be extended to Sydney).
