What is the difference between double glazing and single glazing?

The main difference is that double glazing uses two panes of glass, while single glazing has just one. The gap between the 2 panes in double glazing helps keep heat in during winter and out during summer. This makes your home more energy-efficient. Single glazing doesn’t provide the same insulation benefits as double glazing windows and can be less effective at blocking noise.

Can double glazing help with noise reduction?

Yes, double glazing is great for reducing noise. The two panes of glass with an air gap between them help block outside sounds, like traffic or neighbours. If you live in a noisy area, double glazed windows can make your home quieter and more peaceful. This makes double glazing ideal for people who want a calm, quiet home environment without outside distractions.

How can double glazed windows help reduce energy costs?

Double glazed windows are energy-efficient because the two glass panes trap air between them, acting as insulation. This minimises heat loss in winter and keeps your home cooler in summer, which means you don’t need to use heating and cooling systems as much. By lowering energy consumption, double glazing can reduce your power bills, making your home more comfortable and cost-effective year-round.

Can double glazing improve the appearance of my home?

Definitely! Double glazed windows and double glazed doors can enhance the look of your home. They offer a modern, sleek appearance that can boost curb appeal. Additionally, they come in various styles and frames, so you can choose the best design to match your home. Double glazing improves energy efficiency and adds style and value to your property.

How long does the double glazing installation process take?

The time it takes to simply install double glazing depends on the size and number of windows and doors. For most homes, the installation process takes about 1 to 3 days. Professional installers will work efficiently to minimise disruption to your home. The result will be a more comfortable, energy-efficient space with double glazed windows and double glazed doors.

Are double glazed windows and doors more secure than single glazed ones?

Yes, double glazed windows and double glazed doors are more secure. The extra layer of glass makes it way harder for unwanted intruders to break through compared to single-glazed windows and doors. Double glazing adds an extra level of protection to your home, which helps improve overall security. This makes your home safer and gives you more peace of mind.

Do you offer warranties or guarantees on your products?

Yes, at APS Double Glazing, we offer warranties on all our double glazed windows and double glazed doors. This gives you peace of mind that our products are built to last. What is Double Glazing?

Double glazing refers to a sealed glass unit comprising two sheets of glass separated by a spacer bar around the outside of the glass. The spacer bar creates a nominated millimetre air gap between the two glass panes, which creates an insulation break between the inside and outside of the window.

Why is Double Glazing better with a UPVC frame?

UPVC is the most insulative window material nearly 1000 times less conductive than aluminium, so unlike aluminium, it will not conduct heat and cold and unlike timber, it does not require repainting.

APS Double Glazing UPVC products have a multi-chambered profile in the frame, which helps achieve increased sound and thermal insulation values and offers improved frame strength.

UPVC is also a very long-lasting material and is completely maintenance-free. All APS UPVC frames have been tested for use in a high heat & UV environment like we have in Australia.

If you are investing in an energy-efficient system it would make sense to choose the most efficient one – UPVC.

What are the advantages of UPVC windows & doors?

APS Double Glazed windows and doors will not rot or corrode, making it ideal for all areas, especially coastal applications. It is virtually maintenance free, requiring no painting or treatment.

Most important are the thermal and acoustic properties related to UPVC windows. APS Double Glazed windows and doors have a U Value of around 1.4, therefore are one of the more energy efficient products available.
